Would Forehead, Occipital and Parietal Skull Implants Be Placed As Three Separate Pieces or One Larger Skull Implant?
Q: Dr. Eppley, I was wondering if it was possible to combine 3 cranial implants in 1? Forehead, occipital and parietal instead of 3 different procedures or 3 different implants? If so how much would this type of procedure cost usually? Thanks a lot in advance. If the patients scalp can manage it, would it usually be combined into 1 singular implant instead of 3 pieces?
A:To answer your skull implant questions, whether you would need to separate forehead occipital and parietal implants or whether they would be combined as a single implant is yet to be determined. That is more of an aesthetic question based on the volume of each implanted area and do they need to be connected for a smooth skull contour. But whether it is a single larger implant or three separate implants they certainly would be done in a single surgery.
