Will Vertical Chin Reduction Make The Mentalis Muscle Higher?
Q: Dr. Eppley, Will reducing the vertical chin height will automatically put the mentalis muscle higher? I Also have slight lip incompetance but i dont want any chin advancement, just height reduction so i dont know if it will help or no.
A: The superior origin of the mentalis muscle to the bone has a fixed position. So shortening the length of the chin bone will not automatically move the mentalis muscle higher or necessarily improve lower lip incompetence.
