Will Temporal Arterty Ligations Cause New Arterial Prominences To Appear?
Q: Dr. Eppley, I am concerned that if he litigates one artery, it’s going to cause another one to be enlarged. If that is the case, will he know exactly when he like one artery if the other one is going to be enlarged? And if so, can he undo the one that he located if that’s the case? Also, after the procedure, we noticed that there is one that is enlarged and I am unhappy with it. What can we do at that point? I just want to know what a Plan B with be. How would we do a repair if that’s the case? Thank you so much. Please let me know
A:In my extensive experience with treating prominent temporal arteries through a multi ligation technique I have never seen new arteries develop in the area that aren’t associated with the temporal artery.. In a minority of cases it is possible to have some ‘recurrence’ of its prominence, although very uncommon, but that should not be confused with new arterial prominences developing.
In the few instances in which I have seen some recurrence of the temporal artery Monster years later it is simply a matter of adding a few more ligation points.
