Why Do I Have A Tight Pulling Sensation After Getting A Chin Implant Placed Intraorally?

Q: Dr. Eppley, I had a chin implant last October by a plastic surgeon in my country… after a few months i notice food particles entering the incision i tell my doc about it he keeps assuring me it’s normal, after removing the stitches the wound/ incision widen and more food enters. Now I’m left with

Something that looks like open wounds in my gums. Last time i saw my surgeon he advice me to “wait for it to heal i cant stitch it yet because there’s no enough skin ” how can i help it heal properly? Is it due to the size of the implant? Should i ask my doc to re-open and stitch the wound ? Idk what to do it’s uncomfortable when i talk i feel a weird pulling sensation even after 6 months.

A: That is a completely healed intraoral vestibular incision. It is a lot of white scar but a healed wound nonetheless. The tightness you feel is a result of the implant placement which is always higher than ideal because of the intraoral approach and the lack of screw fixation.
