When Can A Jawline Implant Be Re-Inserted After Prior Removal For Infection?
Q: Dr. Eppley, I have had two wrap-around jawline implants and subsequent removal due to infection. The first one was in February 2022 and the second one was on April 3rd of this year. We also added medpore infra-orbiral/ midface implants this time. The jawline implant was removed last week because of infection. My midface implants are doing well.
At what month post-op should I take photos and initiate consultation for wrap-around jawline implant reinsertion and midface implant evaluation? At what month post-op is it recommended to do the jawline implant reinsertion? I’m still swollen and healing from my surgeries this April.
A: Placement of a 3rd jawline implant after 2 prior implants that were removed due to infection is not something I would do until 6 months after the latest implant removal.
