What Type Of Nostril Narrowing Procedure Do I Need?

Q: Dr. Eppley, I’m wondering the cost for a nostril reduction/ Alarplasty. I’m not looking to make any changes to my tip or bridge, I’d just like smaller nostrils.

A: Thank you for your inquiry and sending your pictures. The wide flare of your nostrils requires a combined width and height reduction of them which means that a wedge of the nostril is removed. This places a scar line from inside the nostril and around the sides of the alar-facial groove. Whie these scars general do well there is always the chance of some scar visibility particularly when more natural pigment exists in the skin. Thus it is always better to think of this more aggressive form of nostril reduction/narrowing as a two stage procedure with the hope that the second stage (scar revision) is never needed.
