What Is The Recovery Like For Temporal Reduction Surgery?

Q: Dr. Eppley, I am currently considering getting a temporal reduction surgery, but I am wondering what the recovery process may be like for this procedure. I understand that for some surgeries, the recovery process can be quite long (a few weeks to months) and require certain types of diets, while for other surgeries, the recovery process can be very short (a few days or less). Thank you so much for your help!

A: The recovery from temporal reduction surgery is remarkably quick. Other than some expected temporal swelling there are no postoperative physical limitations. One can eat and drink immediately after surgery in an unrestricted fashion. Most of the swelling subsides by 10 to 14 days after the surgery.
