What Are The Risks Of An Aggressive Buccinator Myectomy?

Q: Dr. Eppley, I know you claim the buccal myectomy produces just modest results but for a highly motivated patient that is willing to accept risks, would you be able to remove more and tighten more muscle for a more dramatic result?

What kind of risks are there if you try to tighten more?

A: I suspect the main risk with an ‘aggressive’ buccinator myectomy would be excessive tightness of the cheeks. (scar contracture)
