Is Fat Grafting For Jaw Augmentation A Good Idea?

Q: Dr. Eppley, I was wondering if fat grafting to the jawline to achieve wider jaw is a good procedure? Will the fat sag in the long term and cause jowls?

A: Fat grafting would not be structurally stable as a jaw augmentation method. As you have correctly surmised it will sag and create jowls…sooner rather than later.Of equal aesthetic importance it will only create jaw fullness, not jaw definition.
