How Many Facial Procedures Can Be Done At The Same Time?
Q: Dr. Eppley, I recently got a consultation regarding a deviated septum. I had a CT scans done and a confirmation letter from the doctor confirming the deviation. I am looking at going with you regarding this considering your specialties that I could add on to the surgery. I am wanting to get multiple surgeries done at the same time. Procedures: Zygoma reduction Rhinoplasty (including alarplasty + septoplasty) Custom infraorbital implant + canthoplasty Brow bone reduction My questions are: Is all of this possible to get done under one operation? I look forward to hearing from you.
A: It is very common to perform multiple facial structural surgeries at the same time. Brow bone and cheekbone reductions with facial implants and rhinoplasty can all be done during the same operation. The main concept to grasp about multi facial procedures, particularly of a structural nature, is that there will be some profound postoperative swelling and bruising that would be far greater in magnitude and time to go down than if any of these operations were done independently. The impact is on recovery not one of intraoperative technical execution.
