How Can My Hip Dips Be Fixed?

Q: Dr. Eppley, Could you please give me advice on enhancing my hip dips? Please see attached for photos. I am 5” 1” tall and weigh 126 lbs. M prior surgery has been a BBL procedure with liposuction.

Please let me know if there are any questions or concerns.

A: Thank you for your inquiry and sending your picture. With a thin body frame and have had prior BBL surgery, I am going to assume that you have had a prior effort at fat grating into the hip dips. While fat grafting for hip augmentation is not associated with as high a fat take as that of the buttocks, it is always the first approach that should be done. If one can get some fat to take into the hips, even if it takes more than one grafting session, this is always the preferred approach because it is of an autologous nature.

When fat grafting has failed or there are inadequate fat reservoirs for harvest, the remaining approach is that of an implant. Custom designed hip implants can be used for placement on top of the TFL fascia over the trochanteric area. (hip dips)
