How Can I Reduce My Protruding Rib?

Q: Dr. Eppley, I broke a rib 20 years ago a few years after I noticed a bump on my side and now it has evolved into a Is protruding rib In the front on my right side is there any way to shave this down. A: The bump to which you refer is located at the left subcostal margin and I can envision that the cartilaginous portion of rib #8 or #9 fractured from the bony junction resulting in a protrusion. This can be shaved down or removed through a small direct incision over it.
