While one technique that you have attached for improving nostril show via alar rim retraction can be effective but there are associated scar concerns along the alar – facial groove where the excision is done. Another technique is to directly excise tissue along the alar rim which I think would be preferred given that the scar would be more on the inside of the nose or at least along the edge of the Alar rim (red lines in diagram) It would likely also be more effective because it is done exactly where you were looking for the effect rather than an excision of the alar – facial groove where one is counting on a lifting effect to make the improvement.
