How Can I Get Rid Of My Temporal Upper Eyelid Hooding?

Q: Dr. Eppley, i want to improve the appearance of the lateral hooding of skin at the corners of my eye lids, my brows are straight and i feel a little low. I am confused as to whether i need a brow lift or eye lid surgery, I am getting mixed opinions.

I would value your expert opinion.

A: Based on your picture the most effective resolution of your temporal hooding is excisional. (upper blepharoplasty) You can not ‘browlift’ the temporal hooding away. If you feel the brows are low and may desire a browlift for that purpose that can be done at the same time. That may affect how much skin is removed when done at the same time as the lateral upper blepharoplasty. The browlift is an adjunctive technique to the blepharoplasty but not a replacement for it.
