How Can I Feminize My Face?

Q: Dr. Eppley,  would be interested in what you would suggest to maximally feminize my face and make it more attractive. I have included frontal and profile views. Thank you

A:Thank you for your inquiry and sending your pictures. While you do have an attractive face there are some more masculine features to it which I think would be beneficial to softening it or creating a more feminine appearance. I divided these into several categories:

1) The most masculine facial features you have are prominent brow bones, a long upper lip, and large ear lobes. For these reasons the procedures of brow bone reduction with brow lift, subnasal lip lift with upper and lower lip vermilions and ear lobe rediuctions in my opinions are he single most important feminizing changes to make.

2) Other structural changes such as chin and cheek augmentation, while they can have a feminizing effect, I am more cautious about them when one is looking at facial feminization which is often about reductions rather than augmentations. But in the properly selected patient and as long as they are not overdone can be beneficial as well.

To try and show some of these potential changes I have attached an image. The key about imaging is to not over interpret it and look at all of the details. They are going to be some artifacts and some tissue distortions which should be ignored. What you want to look at is the overall concept of the changes not the details of them.

3) Lastly there are some age related procedures which may be beneficial even though they are not necessarily feminizing in their intent. These would include upper blepharoplasty as well as a jowl neck tuckup.
