Do I Need A Sliding Genioplasty To Improve My Neck?

Q: Dr. Eppley, I am writing about chin and neck surgery but I have a few questions. I have been doing a lot of research about what procedure I should get done exactly. ]I am not sure if I need a sliding genioplasty, liposuction, or both. Please let me know what would be the best route for me with my chin situation.

A:I don’t think there is any question with your horizontally and vertically short chin that you can’t accomplish anything with your neck if you don’t do a bony chin movement. For your neck you likely only need liposuction, and at worst, a submentoplasty. The key is the horizontal and vertical advancement of your chin which is going to help out your neck by the attached muscle pull as the chin bone moves forward.
