Do I Need A Breast Lift?
Q: Dr. Eppley, My big boobs are saggy and feel deflated on top. What procedure is best for long term success for me?
A: When you have large breast with a significant amount of sag there is going to be no way to get around for the need for a full breast lift. This is the basic procedure to get the breast tissues back up further on the chest with a better nipple position. Whether you would ultimately require an implant or fat injections for persistent upper pole fullness is an issue to be determined when the breast lift has settled out into its final shape 3 to 6 months later . While no one can accurately predict in advance whether that secondary augmentation will be needed my suspicion is that it will more likely be needed than not.
The issue with breast lifting is always the same and that is the resultant inverted t-shaped scarf pattern. Ultimately the need for a breast lift requires one to assess which problem they would prefer to have, meaning do I want ta better breast shape and position of the breasts on my chest with scars or is it better to have no scars and the breast shape that I now have. Each patient will view that preference differently.
