Can Temporal Hollowing After Kidney Transplant Be Treated?

Q: Dr. Eppley, I had a kidney transplant and now have severe temporal hollowing. How can I fix it?

A:I will need to see a picture of your temples to evaluate the extent of your temporal hollowing which would determine how it would be best treated. Given that the origin of it is undoubtably extensive fat loss implant augmentation would be the reliable method to improve it. The two pertinent questions in that regard are: 1) what is the exact type of temporal implant that would best treat it and 2) does your medical condition make such surgery reasonable to do without a high risk of infection. Being a transplant patient you undoubtably are on some form of chronic immunosuppression. What that medication is would determine your appropriateness for elective surgery. That and clearance from your transplant doctors.
