Can Skull Implants Migrate?

Q: Dr. Eppley, I am interested in skull augmentation. I can’t believe the amazing results you achieve. The shape of my head has bothered me for a long time. I have looked into having surgery here in the UK but my options were to have a very large cut and not like the small incisions you make. The results I would like the achieve are something very similar to the below image. I just have a few questions if possible? I was quoted in the UK with the large incision. Can the implants migrate? Can they cause headaches and can you feel the implants if you were to run your fingers through your hair?

A: In answer to your skull augmentation questions:

1) Onlay skull implants do not migrate regardless of their size.

2) Onlay skull implants have never caused headaches in my experience.

3) Onlay skull implants have a smooth contour and a seamelss edge transition onto the skull bone. Thus you can not feel them if you touch your head or run your fingers through your hair.
