Can Shoulder Reduction Surgery Reduce My Bideltoid Distance from 18.5″ to 17″?
Q: Dr. Eppley, I am interested in clavicle reduction surgery for shoulder narrowing. I’ve attached some photos for reference. Some additional possibly relevant information for my request for shoulder narrowing… my bideltoid measurement is somewhere between 18″-18.5″ and my biacromial is between 15.5″-16″. Ideally hoping to get my bideltoid closer to 17″.
A: Thank you for sending your pictures. I think it is realistic to go from an 18/18.5 inch (47cm) bideltoid distance down to a 17 inch (43 cm) bideltoid distance with clavicle reduction osteotomies.
