Can Paranasal Implants Be Placed After A LeFort I Osteotomy?
Q: Dr. Eppley, I have had two double jaw surgeries in the past. My last surgery was in 2020. However, I think my upper jaw/nose has sunken again and I have read your article about paranasal implants. I was wondering if this might help to solve the case. I have included some pictures to show you my problem.
A: Nasal base hypoplasia is treated by paranasal, premaxillary or premaxillary-paranasal augmentation depending upon exact location of the deficiency. After having maximally changed the bone implant augmentation would be remaing treatment choice. Based on your pictures I would say that paranasal augmentation alone, as you have stated, appears to be the correct area of nasal base augmentation.
