Can Iliac Crest Implants Be Done In The U.S.?

Q: Dr. Eppley, I’ve been looking at your Iliac crest implants for pelvic plasty, and wanted to get some details. Firstly, how much would the surgery and implant cost? Where is the surgery done?

A: In answer to your iliac crest implant questions:

1) Titanium iliac crest implants can currently only be done in South Korea. They are not yet approved by the FDA for use in the U.S. That cost is $20,000.

2) In the U.S. I am currently working on ultrahard solid silicone implant equivalents which is capable of being placed due to it being a custom made implant for each patient. To date I am waiting to do the first such patient. Such surgery is done in a surgery center with an overnite stay.
