Can I Play Soccer After Rib Removal Surgery?
Q: Dr. Eppley,I wanted to ask you if I can still be able to professionally play soccer and gymnastics after removing my 10,11&12 ribs, and what are the side effects.
A: I have had numerous gymnasts, dancers and even a professional weightlifter have rib removal surgery without any postoperative issues. I can not speak to a soccer player since I have not had a patient in whom that this a postoperative requirement. But liek anyh contact sport, if it is a professional athlete, I would be cautious about that requirement.
