Can I Get XXL Testicle Implants?

Q: Dr. Eppley, I have existing testicle implants of 36ccs and am interested in getting much larger ones like 8.5 to 10.5cms. Is it possible?

A:Thank you for your inquiry and sending your pictures. With existing testicle implants of 36 mL that tells me that the size of these implants are on the 4.75 to 5.0 cm range which are the largest that are commercially available as a standard testicle implant size. Which is also obviously why you have them. That being said you certainly can have larger testicle implants, the key is how much size increase can be obtained given the scrotal space that exists. Most patients overestimate third testicle implant size need because they only look at the linear length number. For example you have chosen the number 8.5 to 10.5 cm increase coimpared to the 4.75cm implant you now have. While going from 4.75 to 8.5 cm seems considerable (double in size by this measurement), but when you look at the volume (cc) difference, which is the more accurate way to determine size increase,  between these two implant sizes you will see how dramatic that change would be (150ccs) In essence  a 4X increase in implant size by volume and displacement. This is simply a mathematical way to tell you that such size implants are not going to fit and this isn’t overly ambitious implant size.

A more realistic Implant size change would be in the 7.0, may be a 7.5 size implant. Implants that are in the 100 to 110 cc volume range.

Understand that I don’t personally care what implant size any patient wants. I am focus on the ability to surgically do it with an acceptable low rest of postoperative complications. As a motto that I followed frequently when it comes to implant sizes,…. It is better to have 70% of what you want with no problems then it is to have 100% of what you want with problems. The relevancy of this motto is when you have an implant related problem most of the time the definitive solution is removal and you lose everything.
