Can I Get Hair Transplants After A Forehead Augmentation?

Q: Dr. Eppley, If I had forehead augmentation, then hair transplants afterward over the augmented area, would the augmentation decrease the chance of success hair transplantation? I’m thinking about decrease in blood supply. Also, if there were shock hair loss above the augmented area, would the augmentation make it less likely for that hair to grow back? And does this all depend on what augmentation material was used. Thanks so much!

A: The hair follicles are in a more superficial scalp area than the implant down at the bone level. So one can safely have a hair transplant after having a forehead implant. The implant does NOT result in less blood supply to the scalp since it is placed under all the scalp layers. This effect does not change based on the implant material.
