Can I Get Fat Transfer With Buttock Implants?
Q: Dr. Eppley, I am interested in gluteal implants with fat transfer.
A:Thank you for your inquiry and sending your pictures. I can definitely see the benefits of buttock implants as you do not have a large amount of fat for harvest. When you mention both that is known as composite buttock augmentation where whatever fat the patient has is injected over and around the subcutaneous area in the buttocks while the implants are placed inside the muscle well below where the fat is injected.
The question is not whether that can be done but how much benefit will the fat harvest and transfer be to the overall buttock augmentation effect. In your case I would say that’s an 85:15 ratio meaning 85% of the buttock augmentation effect is going to come from the implants while only a very small beneficial effect will come from the fat transfer.
