Can I Get An MRI with a Custom Forehead Implant With Screws?
Q: Dr. Eppley, I am writing to follow up regarding the forehead implant surgery you performed for me. I need to undergo an MRI scan, and I wanted to confirm with you whether it is safe to do so with this specific implant. Are there any precautions I should take, or specific materials I should mention to the imaging technician?
Thank you for your time and guidance.:Both the implant and the screws used for fixation (titanium) are non-ferromagnetic materials which makes them perfectly for MRI scans. You may tell them you have an extracranial forehead implant but that is merely done so they don’t interpret what is there as ‘pathologic’.
