Can Extra Cartilage On My Helical Rim Be Removed Under Local Anesthesia?
Q: Dr. Eppley, Hello, I was wondering I have some cartilage on one of my ears that I wish to be trimmed. It’s the portion of cartilage that in middle of helical rim and sticks out past the rest of my ear. Can you perform this under local anesthetic and use dissolvable stitches? And can yuu do this from back of ear not on front where visible? Thank you.
A:The answer to your three questions is yes to each one of them. Then procedure can be done under local anesthesia, the incision would be on the back of the helical rim and small dissolvable sutures would be used.
