Can A Zygomatic Sandwich Osteotomy Be Reversed?

Q: Dr. Eppley, I had 9 months ago a ZSO (zygomatic sandwich osteotomy) procedure. I don’t like the outcome. My surgeon used bone marrow from my hip. Is it possible to revise this procedure? Do I assume right, that you would just pull the graft material ( in this case bone marrow) out and push my cheek bones together again?

Is the revision more risky than the former procedure?

A: You can reverse a ZSO (zygomatic sandwich osteotomy) by a wedge resection of the now healed grafted bone and putting it back where it originally was. It has no more risk than the original procedure minus the need for a painful donor site.
