Can A Boxer Safely Get Brow Bone Implants?

Q: Dr. Eppley, I was considering getting implants for my bone brow. However i am a boxer, will these implants interfere with my boxing career and if so what can i do to prevent any damage.

A: While I have never put forehead or brow bone implants into a patient that boxes, I do not see it as a problem. You can’t break the implant and it would be hard to displace it with any force. It actually has an opposite effect…it adds a layer of protection or acts like a bumper guard for the bone.
