Are Vertical Lengthening Jaw Angle Implants Placed Above or Below the Masseter Muscle?

Q: Dr. Eppley, Hi, as in photo I have a high mandibular plane angle. For Dr Eppley’s vertical lengthening jaw angle implants, do these need to be placed underneath the masseter pterygoid sling? Or is that for the jaw angle widening implants only?

A: All bony jaw angle implants are placed on the bone underneath the masseter muscle.
