Would Custom Infraorbital Implants Be Appropriate For Me?

A: Thank you for your inquiry and sending your pictures. As a general rule, the shape of the lower eyelids is closely correlated to the bone that lies underneath them. Thus to no surprise, you do have a negative orbital vector with lower lid, positioning, and excessive scleral show. While a custom infraorbital would be the cornerstone of your treatment. that alone is not going to be adequate as it only addresses the bone deficiency and will not by itself drive the eyelids up completely. You would need the addition of lower eyelid spacer grafts using Alloderm to increase vertical lower lid height along with lateral canthoplasties as well. When you have the degree of scleral show that you do, it takes a combined bony and soft tissue procedure to maximize whatever result is possible.
