Cosmetic Procedures - Facial Implants - After Surgery
No postoperative dressings are usually needed. In certain patients, a lightly compressive dressing may be used for the first few days. Bruising is minimal but swelling will take several weeks to completely subside and see the final result.
Complications with facial implants are very infrequent. Despite being a foreign body, implants are well tolerated in facial areas and infection is uncommon. Most common problems are aesthetic in nature being that of improper implant position or inadequate/excessive implant size. Complications with implants are increased somewhat when placed in soft tissue (e.g, lips) due to a thinner tissue cover and motion of the implant with facial expression.
